Calabria’s incumbent governor, Roberto Occhiuto, has achieved a decisive victory for the centre-right coalition, securing around 60% of the vote in the regional elections. The result reinforces the political strength of the Forza Italia-led alliance in southern Italy.
Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini praised the outcome as a “great victory for the centre-right,” emphasizing that it reflected citizens’ trust in leaders focused on community development and stability. He contrasted the win with recent unrest seen during national protests, underscoring that voters chose progress over disruption.
Salvini commended Occhiuto’s leadership and the coalition’s continued commitment to regional growth, infrastructure improvement, and local welfare. He described the result as a clear mandate to “move full speed ahead” with policies that prioritize Calabria’s economic and social development.
The victory further strengthens the governing coalition’s influence across Italy, showcasing public support for its local and national agenda.
